How to Map a Network Drive in Windows
Step Action Description
Step 1 Open File Explorer
  • Press Windows + E on your keyboard to open File Explorer.
Step 2 Navigate to "This PC" In the File Explorer, go to the This PC section in the left-hand navigation pane.
Step 3 Click "Map Network Drive"
  • In the top menu, click on the Computer tab.
  • Then click Map network drive in the ribbon at the top.
Step 4 Choose a Drive Letter
  • In the Drive dropdown, select a drive letter you want to assign to the network location (e.g., Z:).
Step 5 Enter Folder Path
  • In the Folder field, enter the network path of the folder you want to map (e.g., \\servername\foldername).
  • If you're not sure of the path, click Browse to find it on the network.
Step 6 Reconnect at Sign-In
  • Check the box for Reconnect at sign-in if you want the drive to automatically reconnect every time you log into Windows.
Step 7 Connect Using Different Credentials (Optional)
  • If you need to connect with different user credentials, check the box for Connect using different credentials.
  • You'll be prompted to enter a username and password after you click Finish.
Step 8 Click Finish
  • Click Finish to complete the mapping process.
  • The mapped drive will now appear in the This PC section in File Explorer.
