Open File Explorer

  • Press Windows + E to open File Explorer, or right-click on the Start button and select File Explorer.

Go to ‘This PC’

  • In the left-hand menu, click on This PC (or My Computer, depending on your version of Windows).

Click ‘Map Network Drive’

  • At the top of the window, click the Computer tab, then select Map Network Drive from the ribbon.

Select a Drive Letter

  • Choose a letter from the dropdown (e.g., “Z:” or “X:”). This will be the name of the mapped drive.

Enter the Folder Path

  • In the Folder field, type the network path to the shared folder or drive you want to map. The path should look like this:
    \\[Server Name]\[Shared Folder Name]
    Example: \\Server\SharedDocs

Optional: Reconnect at Sign-in

  • Check the box that says Reconnect at sign-in if you want the mapped drive to stay connected when you restart your computer.

Optional: Connect Using Different Credentials

  • If the shared folder requires a different username and password, click the Connect using different credentials option and enter the appropriate login details.

Click ‘Finish’

  • Once everything is filled in, click Finish. Your mapped drive will appear under This PC in File Explorer, and you can access it like any other drive.
